Regarding Pledges

I'm not asking for money, I promise!

Hi, all!

It’s come to my attention that several subscribers have made pledges for paid subscriptions to Books & Booze, and I want to take a moment to let you all know that I have absolutely no intention whatsoever of charging a fee for this newsletter. Ever.

On my end, the first button that you always see at the bottom under my signature says “Subscribe now” and should be a link for any new reader to sign up to automatically receive future newsletters. However, it seems that that option on your end now says “Pledge your support” with a link that allows you to choose a dollar amount and enter credit card information. I won’t be adding that link moving forward, and I am working on removing the further postscript at the very end, which appears to be a new addition courtesy of Substack, not anything I’ve added on my own.

If you have already pledged your support, rest assured that your credit card will not be charged. If at any point you do see a charge on your credit card bill, please dispute it immediately.

Books & Booze exists because I love writing and, more importantly, because I love talking about books and telling people what they should be reading. Once a bookseller, always a bookseller.
